Anna Schultz

Visiting Assistant Professor: Ethnomusicology

Anna Schultz earned the Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Illinois in 2004. She is interested in the intersections between religion, politics, and music in South Asia and is currently writing a book on alternative nationalisms created through rashtriya kirtan, an eclectic performance medium from western India. Schultz has received grants from Fulbright-Hays, the American Association of University Women, and the University of Illinois, and her articles have appeared in Ethnomusicology and The Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World. Before joining the faculty of the University of Minnesota, she taught at the University of Illinois, Ithaca College, and SUNY Morrisville.
