World-class performers take the stage at the 2009 University of Minnesota Jazz Festival. The festival features jazz luminaries such as the Frank Kimbrough Trio, drummer Phil Hey, and bassist Gordon Johnson. Hey is one of the busiest drummers in the Twin Cities music scene and has performed with virtually every active Twin Cities musician, in addition to touring internationally. Johnson is the premier jazz bassist in the Twin Cities. The Frank Kimbrough Trio’s playing has been described as “crystalline” by Time critic Terry Teachout. Concert on Friday March 6, 2009 at 7:30 pm in Lloyd Ultan Recital Hall.
