Phil Hey
Phil Hey has performed and recorded with many great musicians, including Dewey Redman, Charlie Rouse, Kenny Barron, Benny Golson, and Benny Carter. He has appeared on more than 80 recordings, among them the award-winning "Von Freeman Live" (Premonition), and his own "Subduction" (AQ), which was named "Jazz Recording of the Year" by City Pages of the Twin Cities in 2005. Hey was also their 2005 "Jazz Artist of the Year." Phil studied with Marv Dahlgren, Floyd Thompson, and with the legendary Ed Blackwell. He has been adjunct at the University of Minnesota since 1991.
